For Private Recorder & Transcribe, an iPhone and iPad recorder and on-device transcription app by QOL Apps. This policy explains exactly what the app accesses and how it handles your recordings, transcripts, and purchases.

Summary

We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to any of your data. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Everything the app does happens locally on your iPhone or iPad.

  • No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
  • No audio or transcripts ever sent to a server.

What the app accesses, and why

Microphone: The app requests microphone access only to record audio when you tap the record button. Recordings are saved directly to your device's local storage and are never uploaded anywhere.

 

Speech transcription: Transcripts are generated entirely on-device using a local, on-device speech model bundled with the app. No audio or text is ever sent to a server — transcription works even with no internet connection.

What we do not do

  • We do not collect personal information.
  • We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
  • We do not use cookies or device identifiers for tracking.
  • We do not require or support user accounts or sign-in.
  • We do not transmit recordings, transcripts, or any other content off your device.
  • We do not share or sell data, because we never receive any.

Your recordings and transcripts

All audio recordings and transcripts are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They remain there until you delete them or delete the app. If you use the app's export feature, you control where exported files (TXT, Markdown, SRT, PDF, or audio) are sent — for example, via the iOS share sheet to Files, Mail, or another app of your choosing. That sharing action is initiated and controlled entirely by you.

In-app purchases

The app offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock additional features. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment information.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Since the app does not collect data, we do not expect material changes, but we'll update this page if that ever changes.
