Privacy Policy

Mosaic keeps your habit data on your device.

Effective date: October 1, 2026

For Mosaic - Habit Tracker, an iPhone, Apple Watch, and widget habit tracking app by QOL Apps. Your habit data belongs on your device, not on a server somewhere — this policy explains exactly what that means.

Summary

  • Mosaic does not have a backend server and does not create user accounts.
  • Mosaic does not collect or sell your personal data. Habit data and photos are not automatically sent to us or a developer server.
  • Habit data, collection history, selected photos, and preferences are stored on your Apple devices. You choose any backup or share destination.
  • We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.

Information we collect

We do not collect habit data, photos, usage information, or diagnostic logs. Mosaic has no developer-operated habit-data server. Optional backups, sharing, and paired Apple Watch transfer are described below.

Specifically, the App does not:

  • Require you to create an account, log in, or provide an email address, name, or any other personal identifier.
  • Access your contacts, location, microphone, camera, or HealthKit data. Mosaic does not request broad Photos library access; the system Photos picker provides only a photo you select.
  • Use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs (no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Meta/Facebook SDK, no ad networks — none).
  • Track you across other apps or websites.
  • Automatically share, sell, or rent habit data or photos to third parties. You can explicitly choose to export a backup or share artwork.

Information stored on your device

To function, Mosaic stores the following data locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. The iPhone app and its widgets share the iPhone's App Group store. The Apple Watch app keeps a separate local cache and exchanges habit snapshots and check-in commands with the paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework:

  • Habit names, icons, schedules, and reminder times you set.
  • Your daily completion history for each habit.
  • Your chosen palette, material, and mosaic layout per habit.
  • Your selected artwork, collection credits, finished collections, and any personal photo you choose for a Mosaic Plus collection.
  • App preferences such as onboarding status and theme selections.

This data is not sent to a server we operate or synced via iCloud by Mosaic. Paired Watch transfer is device-to-device. If you delete Mosaic from your device, its local data is removed; copies you exported or shared remain at the destination you chose.

Personal photos

If you select a photo for a Mosaic Plus collection, Mosaic receives that selected item from the system Photos picker, makes a cropped and downsampled JPEG copy in protected app storage, and removes source metadata by re-encoding it. The copy stays on your device unless you choose to include it in a backup or shared image. A copy referenced by a finished collection remains with that collection.

Backups and sharing

Exporting a backup creates a file containing habit data, collection state, and referenced personal-photo copies. You choose where Files saves it. Importing a backup reads the file you select and merges it with local data. A backup saved outside Mosaic is governed by the destination you choose.

Sharing and artwork exports use the system share sheet or the save location you choose. Mosaic does not receive a copy and cannot determine whether a file was posted or sent.

Notifications

Mosaic can send you local reminder notifications for habits you choose to set a reminder for. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification framework (UNUserNotificationCenter). No push notification server is involved, and no notification content or scheduling data is sent to us or anyone else.

Purchases

Mosaic offers optional in-app purchases — a lifetime unlock, a monthly subscription, and a seasonal cosmetic pack — processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. Mosaic never sees, collects, or stores your payment information; that is handled exclusively by Apple in accordance with Apple's own privacy policy. We only receive confirmation from Apple's StoreKit framework of which products you own, stored locally on your device, so the App can unlock the features you've purchased.

Siri, Shortcuts, Widgets, and Apple Watch

Mosaic supports Siri Shortcuts, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and a companion Apple Watch app through Apple's App Intents, WidgetKit, App Group, and WatchConnectivity frameworks. The Watch exchanges habit data with your paired iPhone; these integrations do not send habit data to us. Multi-day Live Activities are retired in Mosaic 2.0.

Children's privacy

Mosaic does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all. The App is suitable for a general audience and contains no ads, no in-app messaging, and no third-party trackers.

Data retention and deletion

Because all data lives only on your device, you are always in full control of it:

  • To delete local habit data, delete it in Mosaic or remove the app from your device. Exported backups and shared files are separate copies that Mosaic cannot delete.
  • There is no account to delete and no server-side copy to request removal of, because none exists.

Security

Local habit data and personal-photo copies are protected by your device's own security. The security and privacy of exported backups or shared files depend on the destination you choose, rather than on any server infrastructure we maintain.

Changes to this policy

If Mosaic's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version adds an optional cloud sync feature — this policy will be updated first, and the effective date at the top will reflect the change. We will not make material changes that reduce your privacy without updating this document.
